Firm Description
C.M. Wong Architecture, led by Principal Charles (Chuck) Wong, AIA, offers comprehensive architectural services with over 30 years of expertise, particularly in multi-family, senior, and special needs housing for both affordable and market-rate developers. Chuck has overseen more than 2,000 housing units across various construction types in the San Francisco Bay Area and beyond, consistently delivering high-quality projects on time and within budget to satisfied repeat clients.
C.M. Wong Architecture is a micro-enterprise that specialize in medium-to-large projects. We do not have marketing, accounting, or human resources departments, nor do we have a large lavish office that adds to our bottom line. As such, the cost savings are passed on to you, the client.
At larger firms where roles may be compartmented between designers, production staff, project managers, and construction managers, communication between departments could be short-circuited. For example, issues that come up in the field may not necessarily be transmitted to the design team or production team for the next project, so the same issues may re-appear. Chuck manages all aspects of each project, ensuring direct oversight and swift resolution of issues. Lessons learned are incorporated into future work, ensuring issues will not be repeated.
C.M. Wong Architecture is known for rapid response times throughout all project phases, earning praise from general contractors and owners alike for efficiency and attentiveness. Extensive experience in construction administration informs document preparation and leads to fewer RFI's and change orders - for example, The Grinnell, a mixed use, 6 story, Type III over Type IA construction building had only 263 RFI's and a 0.2% change order rate due to A&E, while Piper Way Senior Housing had 177 RFI's and a 0.4% change order rate due to A&E. Owner have been able to reinvest unused contingency funds into upgrades thanks to this effective project management.
